The Gaia Ax series is a semi-professional Air Quality monitoring product range suitable for outdoor as well as indoor and industrial Air Quality monitoring and produced and manufactured by the Earth Sensing Labs from the WAQI project.

Accurate and Reliable

All the semi-pro stations have been carefully designed for highly reliable and accurate monitoring, using 3 redundant sensors and high-quality components. All the stations are tested individually, and produced in small batches to ensure the best quality.

Designed for efficiency

The GAIA station provides data as accurate as of the traditional high-end professional air quality monitoring stations (e.g. using BAM or TOEM) but at only 1/20th of their price. Together with the GAIA big-data cloud system, hundreds of stations can be deployed, maintained, and analyzed in a single city in just a few clicks.

The GAIA is also specially designed for outdoor use with IP67 waterproof material and UV-proof ABS plastic.

The GAIA A12 is a sensor-packed station:
  • Air Quality Particulate Matter Sensors: 3x PMS 5003
  • Meteorologic Sensors: ASAIR DHT-20
  • Connectivity via WIFI, with an external antenna.
The station is using 3 redundant Air Quality sensors to ensure the best data quality: Our system continuously correlates the data from all sensors to automatically detect and correct any abnormal data.
The GAIA A12 station is also very compact, and light, so easy to install:
  • Power Supply: Only needs a 5V (USB compatible) supply
  • Power Cable: 10 meters waterproof power cable included.
  • Dimensions: 130 * 80 * 70 mm (excluding antenna)
  • Weight: 380g

The GAIA A12 can be bought at a price of 200.

Alternatively, the station can also be acquired at a cost of 100 if paid yearly: When purchased yearly, we send you a brand new station every 2 years for free (excluding shipment costs). Renewing the station is important to us to ensure the highest sensor quality of your station. Note that we ask for a deposit for the rented station.

The GAIA A18 is an improved GAIA A12 design, with a solar panel power and long distance radio, allowing to operate the station in remote area where either WIFI or power supply is not available. can be operated "off-grid" using a battery and solar panel. It also contain

Solar Power

Using the battery only, the GAIA A18 can be operated for 7 days without recharge. Using the solar panel, the box can recharge the battery within a few hours. This makes it possible to operate the station forever off-grid, provided you have at least one sunny day every week.

Enhanced Connectivity

The GAIA A18 can be operated using WIFI like the GAIA A12. But it also comes with "long-range" connectivity support (LoRA), allowing you to locate your station several hundreds of meter up to several kilometers from your network gateway (depending on the line of sight). The GAIA A18 comes with an external WIFI/LoRA gateway.

The GAIA A18 also contains an internal GPS sensor to make it easier to locate your remote stations.

  • Payment: It is done at shipping time, and can be done using any regular credit card or PayPal.

There are 2 options for mounting the monitoring box:
  • Using screws: The GAIA enclosure is made of a standard outdoor ABS box, which comes with 4 holes dedicated to screwing the box.

  • Using standard plastic strips: The GAIA station is delivered with 2 strips of 1 meter, which can be used to fix the station on a pole.

Distance:

  • The station comes with a 10 meters (33 feet) power cable (5V with DC3.5 connector), so the station should be located no more than 10 meters away from the nearest power source. If needed, we can provide a longer power cable (contact us in this case).

  • The monitoring station is using a regular external WIFI antenna, which allows the station to be at least 20 meters away from the nearest hotspot. In case a longer distance is needed, an enhanced external antenna can be used (contact us in this case).

Overall, the most important is to place the station somewhere protected from direct winds, rain, and dust sources.

    For official stations, there are two more requirements, with the intent is to locate the station on sites representative of the ambient air quality levels (reference).

  • Height: The station should be mounted at a height above a minimum of 1.5 meters. The objective is to prevent dust resuspension, which can happen if someone is walking nearby the station.

  • Distance from road traffic: The station should be located at least 10 meters away from the nearest road. See table on the right for full specifications.

    We usually prefer SF-epxress for the shipment. Countries where SF-express shipment is possible, are shown in blue (updated on 2023-03-30). To get a quotation, check the SF-express website, based on 1KG weight, size 18x10x12 cm, and a shipment from Beijing DongCheng district.
